The Supex SD-700 comes from the workshop that helped found the Japanese MC school. Its tiny 0.18 mV output demands a high gain MC phono input or a step up transformer. The conical stylus accepts a wide tracking force window of 0.7 to 3.0 g. The stylus is integrated, so a worn diamond means a retip.

The Supex SD-700 is a rare early MC with balanced, coherent voicing built around conical-tip simplicity. Expect a natural midrange with honest vocal timbre, solid imaging focus and even-handed dynamics rather than aggressive attack. Bass stays reasonably firm without dominating, and composed tracking forgives varied pressings, a musical all-rounder for classic jazz and vocal records. The stylus is integrated, so wear leads to a retip.
