Stanton 500 AL
The Stanton 500 AL belongs to the famous 500 workhorse series from the American maker. This MM cartridge pairs a conical stylus with a 5 mV output for any standard MM phono input. Its light 0.75 to 1.5 g tracking force with 1.0 g nominal suits home tonearms. The replaceable stylus is the D5100AL, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Stanton 500 AL is a reliable DJ workhorse with a forgiving, easygoing character. Alignment slips and surface noise get smoothed over, vocals stay natural without razor detail, and bass carries enough body to keep a groove solid on beat-mixing setups. The aluminum cantilever with a conical tip shrugs off rough handling. The D5100AL stylus is replaceable, so worn tips swap in seconds.
