Shelter 201
The Shelter 201 opens the Japanese workshop's range at the entry level. This MM cartridge pairs an elliptical stylus with a 4 mV output for any standard MM phono input. Rated tracking force runs from 1.5 to 2.0 g. The replaceable stylus is the RS201, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Shelter 201 leans toward smooth, easygoing vocals rather than clinical precision, staying kind to older or brighter-sounding pressings. Bass carries decent body without turning heavy, and dynamics keep lively enough for rock and jazz without aggression. Long, fatigue-free sessions are exactly what this relaxed MM was made for. The elliptical stylus is replaceable when worn.
