Pickering XSV 3000
The Pickering XSV 3000 arrived in the light tracking era with the brand's Stereohedron cut. This MM cartridge delivers a 5 mV output for any standard MM phono input. Rated tracking force runs from 0.5 to 1.5 g with 1.0 g nominal. The replaceable stylus is the D3000, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The Pickering XSV 3000 offers smooth, forgiving MM voicing built around natural, warm vocals and a spacious, well-layered soundstage. Dynamics stay lively without turning edgy, bass keeps full-bodied rather than lean, and relaxed tracking treats older or well-worn records kindly. Vocal jazz, folk and mellow rock reward it more than hyper-detailed audiophile pressings. The Stereohedron-tipped D3000 stylus is user-replaceable.
