Ortofon Quintet Blue
The Ortofon Quintet Blue belongs to the Danish Quintet series of low output MC cartridges. Its 0.5 mV output requires a dedicated MC phono input or a step up transformer. The nude elliptical stylus tracks from 2.1 to 2.5 g with 2.3 g nominal. The stylus is integrated, so a worn diamond calls for retipping.
The Ortofon Quintet Blue is detailed yet composed. Its nude elliptical tip pulls fine texture from the groove while tracking stays even, giving a stable, layered soundstage where vocals sound natural and present without glare. Bass keeps taut rather than heavy and dynamics feel lively but never harsh, versatile for rock, jazz and vocal records. The stylus is integrated, so a worn diamond means a retip.
