Ortofon 2M Black
The Ortofon 2M Black crowns the famous 2M series in the audiophile class. Its 5 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The Shibata stylus traces the groove at 1.4 to 1.7 g with 1.5 g nominal. The replaceable stylus is named Stylus 2M Black, and Phono Culture lists 3 compatible replacement styli.

Bass stays taut and well-controlled rather than heavy, while the aluminium cantilever keeps dynamics lively without turning sharp. Acoustic, jazz and classical on resolving systems reward it most. The stylus is user-replaceable, so wear stays a running cost, not a loss.
