Jelco Model D

The Jelco Model D comes from the Japanese workshop best known for its tonearms. This entry level MM cartridge pairs a conical stylus with a simple and rugged construction. The replaceable stylus is the ND 12 D and slides in without any tools. The Phono Culture database lists 4 compatible replacement styli for this model.

Additional Info

The Jelco Model D, the MC-12D of the MC-12 series, is a forgiving MM with a warm, natural midrange that flatters vocals while keeping dynamics lively, not edgy. Its spherical tip smooths minor surface noise for an easygoing, relaxed sound rather than pinpoint imaging. Rock, jazz and vocal records on modest systems suit it fine. The stylus is replaceable, so no retipping is ever needed.
