Grado RP II

The Grado RP II ranks among the early collectible models from Joseph Grado's American workshop. The cartridge uses the house MI generator paired with a conical stylus. By generator type it works into a standard MM phono input. Full period specifications have not survived in the sources, so this card keeps to confirmed data.

The Grado RP II carries the family warmth. Vocals sit rich and full-bodied rather than clinically etched, imaging stays spacious and layered enough to separate instruments, and the firm bottom end never turns boomy, giving music a cohesive musical push. Jazz, vocal records and rock on modest to mid-tier systems suit it naturally. This rare Grado P-mount in T4P format, sometimes found with a blue body, dates from roughly 1981–1986 and favors smoothness over ultimate resolution.
