Excel MM-65
The Excel MM-65 comes from the Japanese workshop that spent years building cartridges for other brands. This budget MM design pairs a conical stylus with a 2 mV output level. Rated tracking force runs from 1.5 to 1.75 g by specification. The replaceable stylus is the S-65, and Phono Culture lists 3 compatible replacement styli.
The Excel MM-65, also sold as the ME-65, leans forgiving. It smooths surface noise and sibilance while keeping vocals natural and dynamics lively enough for casual spins, bass sitting at comfortable moderate density. Relaxed rather than pinpoint imaging makes it an easygoing match for pop, rock and older pressings on budget turntables. The stylus is replaceable from the S-65 family, including the S-65CR and S-65XR.
