Excel EX70

The Excel EX70 follows a MM design, so it drives the standard MM input of any phono stage without extra gain. Its Shibata profile traces high frequency modulation cleanly and holds stereo focus across the side. Recommended tracking force runs from 1.5 to 2.0 grams. The stylus assembly is named ES-70EX4, and the Phono Culture database lists one compatible replacement for this model.

Additional Info

The Excel EX70 is a balanced, forgiving MM with a Shibata stylus on an aluminum cantilever. Strong detail and imaging give vocals a natural, present feel within a well-defined soundstage, while smooth dynamics keep long sessions fatigue-free. Bass carries decent density and inner-groove tracking holds up in busy passages. The stylus is user-replaceable, a good match for jazz, vocal and classic rock on modest to mid-tier systems.
