Entre EC-1

The Entre EC-1 belongs to the collectible Japanese classics from the golden era of MC design. Its low 0.2 mV output requires a dedicated MC phono input or a step up transformer. The elliptical stylus tracks from 1.5 to 2.1 g with 1.8 g nominal. The stylus is integrated, so a worn diamond means a retip.

Additional Info

The Entre EC-1 is a balanced, forgiving MC with an aluminum cantilever and elliptical tip. Imaging and vocal naturalness stand out, giving a coherent, easy midrange with solid stereo placement rather than aggressive attack, while bass stays controlled but not overly dense. Jazz, vocals and acoustic material on relaxed systems suit it well. As a low-output MC it needs a proper MC stage or SUT, and the integrated stylus means retip-only service.
