ELAC ESG 795 ESP
The ELAC ESG 795 ESP comes from the German maker and sits in the upper mid range of MM designs. Its 5.6 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The elliptical stylus runs at a rated tracking force of 1.5 g. The replaceable stylus is the D 795 ESp, and Phono Culture lists 3 compatible replacement styli.
The ELAC ESG 795 ESP is composed and forgiving, with a natural, unforced midrange that flatters vocals rather than dissecting them. Its boron cantilever and elliptical tip deliver crisp imaging and lively dynamics without tipping into harshness, while solid bass density keeps the sound grounded. Long sessions with jazz and vocal records suit this relaxed, musical MM well. The stylus is replaceable within the ESG 79x series.
