ELAC 244-17
The ELAC 244-17 belongs to the German line of mass market MM designs. Its very high 18 mV output easily drives any standard MM phono input. The conical stylus tracks from 1.5 to 3.0 g by specification. The replaceable stylus is the D 244-17, and Phono Culture lists 2 compatible replacement styli.
The ELAC 244-17 from the STS 244 family keeps its character gentle and forgiving, with a natural, unforced vocal presence. The spherical tip favors easy tracking over pinpoint detail, giving relaxed playback without sharp imaging or deep bass slam, comfortable for older and well-worn records. Long casual sessions across jazz, rock and vocal genres suit it perfectly. The D 244-17 stylus is replaceable when worn.
