Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood
The Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood comes from the German workshop in the audiophile MM class. Its 3.6 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The elliptical stylus tracks from 1.9 to 2.5 g with 2.2 g nominal. The stylus is fixed rather than user swappable, an unusual choice for MM, so service happens at the workshop.
The Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood presents a natural, forgiving character built on an aluminum cantilever with elliptical grinding. Vocals and mids come through with warmth and ease, imaging stays stable, and detail resolves well without turning clinical. Vinyl with surface imperfections and brighter systems get treated kindly on jazz, acoustic and vocal genres. The stylus is integrated, so wear leads to a retip.
