Audio-Technica 3482U
The Audio-Technica 3482U belongs to the mass market MM class at the entry level. Its 5 mV output suits any standard MM phono input. The conical stylus rides the groove at a light 1.0 to 1.5 g with 1.25 g nominal. The replaceable stylus is the ATN3482P, and Phono Culture lists one compatible replacement.
The Audio-Technica 3482U carries a mellow, unhurried character. Its spherical tip on a carbon-fiber cantilever keeps vocals smooth and natural with soft transient edges, gently rounded bass and modest but coherent imaging, forgiving on tired pressings. Casual jazz and pop listening on modest systems fits it best. The stylus is replaceable, with the ATN81CP cited as the current family reference.
