AKG P8 Supernova
The AKG P8 Supernova crowned the Austrian maker's cartridge range in the audiophile class. Its VR magnetic generator plugs into a standard MM phono input. The van den Hul stylus rides the groove at a light 1.0 to 1.5 g with 1.4 g nominal. The replaceable stylus is the VDHIIS, and Phono Culture lists 4 compatible replacement styli.

The AKG P8 Supernova offers refined, articulate presentation with a slightly forward yet controlled edge. Detail retrieval and vocal naturalness lead the picture, imaging keeps instruments well-separated on a stable soundstage, and lean rather than plush bass suits acoustic, jazz and vocal material. The van den Hul stylus is user-replaceable, though the SuperNova assembly needs its own matching insert rather than standard P8E or P8ES types.
