[Test Note] Check Empire 2000E/III on my setup
ADC VLM MkIII
The ADC VLM MkIII uses the brand's IM generator and works into a standard MM phono input. Its elliptical stylus rides the groove at a light 0.75 to 1.5 g. Light tracking was the house signature of the marque in that era. The replaceable stylus is the R-SV, and Phono Culture lists one compatible replacement.
The ADC VLM MkIII is smooth and forgiving, its gently rounded top end keeping sibilance and surface noise in check on less-than-perfect pressings. Vocals come through natural and warm, dynamics feel lively without aggression, and imaging stays coherent though not razor-etched, a relaxed musical presentation for jazz, folk and vintage rock. The elliptical stylus is user-replaceable, so wear stays a simple swap.
