ADC 1
The ADC 1 opened the brand's history and now ranks as a collectible classic. This MM cartridge pairs a conical stylus with a high 7 mV output for any standard MM phono input. Tracking force spans a wide 0.75 to 3.0 g window. The replaceable stylus is the R-10, and Phono Culture lists one compatible replacement.
The ADC 1 is a vintage Audio Dynamics design from Peter Pritchard's early high-compliance era, leaning toward a relaxed, non-fatiguing presentation rather than forensic detail. Vocals come through naturally, dynamics stay moderate, and the spherical tip keeps things gentle on older or well-worn records. Laid-back listening on modest systems is its comfort zone. The stylus is replaceable, and R-10 inserts still surface for sale.
